Learning Outcomes

All students completing the requirements for their degree will demonstrate the following intuitional learning outcomes.

I. Communication is exchanging information, ideas, and emotions through verbal, nonverbal, and written means. Communication involves effectively conveying messages, actively listening, and adapting to different audiences to foster understanding and connection.  

II. Critical Thinking is a habit of the mind characterized by analyzing, synthesizing, and evaluating information based on observation, experience, reflection, reasoning, or communication. Critical thinking involves logical reasoning, recognizing biases, evaluating credibility, and considering multiple perspectives.

III. Interprofessionalism is the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines by demonstrating respect, communication, and teamwork. Interprofessionalism emphasizes effective communication, mutual respect, and the integration of diverse expertise to improve outcomes in various fields. 

IV. Social Responsibility involves applying ethical reasoning and decision-making skills to navigate complex social issues. Social responsibility includes considering the consequences of one's actions, upholding ethical principles, promoting social justice, and contributing to the well-being of society.  

V. Discipline-Specific Competence is the foundational knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to begin professional practice in a specific field. Discipline-specific competence includes applying core concepts, following professional standards, utilizing best practices, and continuously developing expertise to adapt to evolving challenges and advancements within the discipline.
