Disciplinary Actions

When warranted, disciplinary action will be taken. The severity of the infraction, determined at the discretion of the Dean, will dictate the action taken. The progressive discipline process entails the following:

  1. The student receives a verbal warning.
  2. If behaviors or performance are not improved, the student will receive a general written warning
  3. If behaviors or performance are still not improved the student will receive a written notification of being placed on Health Sciences Warning and on an Action Plan
  4. If the student fails to comply with the contents of the Action Plan, the final step is failure of the course, failure of the clinical, or dismissed from the program.

Students may be offered probation in lieu of dismissal but this is at the discretion of the dean. Any student not meeting the terms of the probation will be dismissed from the Program. A student may be placed on probation once during the Program except in special circumstances.

When warranted, for serious infractions, the Dean may, in consultation with the chief academic officer, accelerate this process and automatically take disciplinary actions, including dismissal of the student from the Program.
