Faculty and staff of the College are prepared to assist the student in successfully completing the course. Students may seek assistance from faculty and staff who strive to facilitate the student’s success in the course.
Continued enrollment of the student may be in jeopardy for academic or non-academic issues. If any of the behaviors below are manifested by the student, the instructor will meet with the student and provide academic counseling to develop a plan for success.
Should the student continue to exhibit the behaviors listed below, a written warning will be issued. In the case of a warning, the student and instructor will develop an individualized learning activity. The student and instructor will develop a schedule of meetings to evaluate progress toward goals.
Failure to meet the academic grade level, or demonstrate the expected behaviors of an MCHP student, as determined by the College may result in dismissal. (See dismissal policy)
Behaviors that can lead to dismissal from the CNA program:
- Attitudes
- Acts of verbal or physical aggression
- Displaying negative attitudes with peers, instructor, College staff, patients, or facility staff members
- Absenteeism
Every student enrolled in this program is required to attend all 130 hours of the classes, laboratory practices, and clinical days.- If an absence occurs and is due to illness or other unavoidable reasons, students must call their instructor the morning of the class/clinical experience.
- Unexcused absences, including no call/no show may result in immediate dismissal from the program.
- Arrangement for make-up is the responsibility of the student. The student will collaborate with the instructor on the first day back to discuss missed work and will arrange with the instructor to make-up the class or clinical experiences. This will be done at the discretion of the instructor.
- Violation of College Policies, including but not limited to the following:
- Academic dishonesty including cheating on exams or plagiarism
- Theft or destruction of property
- Obvious intoxication or presence of drugs or alcohol
- Repeated disruptive behavior in class/clinical sites that interferes with the learning process of other students
- Compromise of patient safety by any means
- Compromise of patient confidentiality
