PSY 101: Introduction to Psychology

This course introduces psychology as the scientific study of behavior and mental processes. Students explore biological, cognitive, and social influences on behavior and examine how these factors shape human experience across diverse contexts. Topics include the history and approaches of psychology, brain and behavior, learning and memory, human development, sensation and perception, motivation and emotion, personality, psychological disorders, and treatment. Students apply psychological principles to personal, social, and professional situations relevant to everyday life and the health professions.

PSY 201: Developmental Psychology

This course explores human growth and development across the lifespan—from conception through late adulthood and end of life. Students examine biological, cognitive, and psychosocial processes that shape development, considering how heredity, environment, culture, and context interact to influence behavior and change. Emphasis is placed on applying developmental theories and research to real-world settings, including family, education, and healthcare. Through observation, reflection, and analysis, students connect developmental science to practical contexts across diverse life stages.
